PLN IP Services Successfully Delivers 5 MW of Additional Capacity to Support Timika's Growth

 

Timika, July 22, 2026 — PLN Indonesia Power Services (PLN IP Services), together with PT PLN (Persero) Papua and West Papua Regional Main Unit, successfully delivered an additional 5 MW of generating capacity, which officially entered its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on Friday (July 17th), after undergoing a 72-hour Reliability Running Test in accordance with technical standards. This additional capacity is expected to improve the reliability of the electricity supply while supporting economic growth and development in the Timika region.

 

In this project, PLN IP Services played a role in generating supply, installation, commissioning, and testing. All work stages were completed in accordance with quality, safety, and technical standards, ensuring the power plant is ready for commercial operation and provides additional power to the Timika electricity system.

 

The operation of the additional 5 MW of generating capacity is part of PLN IP Services' commitment to supporting the growing electricity demand in the Timika region. This additional power supply is expected to improve the quality of electricity services for the community, support business and industrial activities, and contribute to regional development.

 

The President Director of PLN IP Services, Hari Cahyono, stated that the successful operation of the additional generating capacity in Timika is the result of a solid synergy between PLN IP Services and PLN UIW Papua and West Papua in providing quality energy supply solutions.

Belitung Becomes More Reliable, PLN IP Services & PLN UIW Babel Collaborate to Deliver 10 MW of Power
