PLN IP Services Operates 3 MW Power Plant in Wamena

Stimulating Activities, Encouraging Regional Development

Jakarta, July 27, 2026 — The successful deployment of an additional 3 MW of power plant capacity in Wamena demonstrates the synergy between PLN Indonesia Power Services (PLN IP Services) and PT PLN (Persero) Papua and West Papua Regional Main Unit (UIW). Through this collaboration, PLN IP Services completed the entire process, from construction, installation, commissioning, and a 72-hour Reliability Running Test, before the plant officially entered its Commercial Operation Date (COD) on Sunday (July 19). The operation of this additional capacity adds 3 MW of power supply to support 24-hour electricity service for the community and encourage economic growth and development in Wamena.

This additional power plant capacity addition is part of the PLN Group's efforts to improve the reliability of the electricity system in Wamena. All stages of the work were carried out in accordance with established technical and quality standards, ensuring that the power plant met all operational parameters and was ready for commercial operation.

In this project, PLN IP Services played a crucial role, from construction and installation to testing, ensuring the optimal operation of the entire power plant system. The successful completion of each stage demonstrates PLN IP Services' competence in providing integrated energy solutions and supporting electricity system needs across Indonesia.

The President Director of PLN IP Services, Hari Cahyono, stated that the additional power plant in Wamena is part of PLN IP Services' commitment to continuously support PLN in providing quality electricity services to the community.

"The synergy between PLN UIW Papua and West Papua and PLN IP Services is a crucial factor in the successful operation of the additional 3 MW power plant in Wamena. We ensure that each stage of the work is carried out in accordance with safety, quality, and operational standards, so that the power plant is ready to operate optimally to meet the community's electricity needs while supporting economic activity and regional development," said Hari Cahyono.

The operation of the additional 3 MW power plant has had various positive impacts on the electricity system in Wamena. In addition to increasing power supply capacity, the presence of this power plant also supports electricity continuity, improves customer service quality, and provides space for the growth of business, trade, education, healthcare, and community activities that require a stable electricity supply.

This additional capacity also supports the target of 24-hour electricity service for the Wamena community. With a more adequate power supply, the electricity system in the Wamena region has a better ability to meet the growing electricity demand in line with increasing economic activity and regional development.

The success of this project is one of PLN IP Services' strategic steps in supporting the transformation of the national electricity sector by providing integrated energy solutions. Together with the PLN Group, PLN IP Services continues to provide power plant construction, installation, commissioning, testing, and operational support to ensure that each generating unit operates optimally and meets established performance standards.

Going forward, PLN IP Services will continue to deliver innovation and excellence in providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions to support national energy security and provide broader benefits to the Indonesian people.
