Ambon, December 11, 2025 - PLN continues to strengthen the readiness of the electricity system in the Maluku and North Maluku regions ahead of the 2026 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) celebrations. This effort is being made to ensure a reliable, secure, and sustainable electricity supply as electricity demand increases during the festive period.

As part of strengthening electricity security for Nataru, the Executive Vice President of Distribution Operations for Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, and Nusa Tenggara (EVP ODM) of PT PLN (Persero), Ignatius Rendroyoko, conducted a working visit and supervision of the Ambon Peaker PLTMG and BMPP Nusantara 1. During the visit, the EVP ODM was welcomed by Iwa Dwi Yahya, Senior Supervisor of the Ambon PLTMG Unit, and Riki Rahim, Senior Supervisor of the BMPP Nusantara 1 Unit.

The visit aimed to ensure the readiness of the power plant and evaluate the condition of the electricity system, which will support electricity demand during the peak Christmas and New Year celebrations. In addition to technical inspections, strategic discussions were also held to anticipate potential challenges, such as increasing system loads and electricity dynamics in the archipelago.

The Ambon Peaker Gas-Powered Plant (PLTMG) and the Nusantara 1 BMPP are strategic power plants fully managed through Operation & Maintenance (O&M) services by PLN IP Services. These two power plants form the backbone of Ambon Island's electricity system, so their reliability plays a crucial role in maintaining a continuous electricity supply for the community.

On this occasion, Ignatius Rendroyoko expressed his appreciation to the entire PLN IP Services operational team for their dedication and consistent performance in maintaining the reliability of the power plants.

"I express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to the PLN IP Services team at BMPP Nusantara 1 and the Ambon Peaker Gas-Powered Plant (PLTMG) for their outstanding performance. These two power plants are the backbone of Ambon Island's electricity system. Their dedication, hard work, and consistency are crucial to maintaining a reliable and secure electricity supply for the people of Ambon," he said.

PLN IP Services President Director, Hari Cahyono, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting electricity security during the Christmas and New Year holidays through power plant O&M services, prioritizing safety.

"PLN IP Services is fully committed to maintaining power plant reliability through O&M services, prioritizing safety as the key to power plant reliability. As Christmas and New Year approaches, the entire PLN IP Services team is on standby to ensure optimal power plant operation, so that the people of Ambon can celebrate Christmas and New Year safely and comfortably," said Hari Cahyono.

He added that this synergy is key to maintaining power system reliability, especially in the archipelago, which faces unique geographical challenges.

Through power plant readiness, system strengthening, and the dedication of all PLN IP Services employees, the company is optimistic that it can continue to provide the best service to the people of Maluku as they welcome Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026.
