PLN IP Services Successfully Completes Major Overhaul of Unit 6 Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA Tes)
Lebong, June 8, 2026 — The reliability of renewable energy-based power plants has been further strengthened through the successful completion of the Major Overhaul (MO) of Unit 6 Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA Tes), which was completed eight days ahead of schedule. PLN Indonesia Power Services (PLN IP Services), through its flagship Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) service, successfully completed the work in 32 days, out of a 40-day target. This accelerated completion demonstrates PLN IP Services' capability in providing reliable power plant maintenance services, while ensuring that Unit 6 Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA Tes) can resume operation more quickly to support the reliability of renewable energy-based electricity supply.
As part of its efforts to improve performance and extend the operating life of the power plant, PLN IP Services carried out a comprehensive overhaul, including dismantling the main equipment and conducting detailed inspections, reconditioning critical components, reinstalling the equipment, and testing the unit's performance and reliability before it resumed operation. All work was carried out to the highest quality and safety standards to ensure that Unit 6 of the Tes Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA Tes) operates optimally, reliably, and efficiently.
The successful completion of this major overhaul demonstrates PLN IP Services' commitment to providing reliable and high-quality power plant maintenance services to support the sustainable operation of renewable energy-based power plants. As a strategic power plant asset in Bengkulu Province, the Tes Hydroelectric Power Plant plays a crucial role in maintaining a reliable electricity supply for the community and productive sectors in the region. With the optimal return to operation of Unit 6, the Tes Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA Tes) strengthens the electricity system and supports the strengthening of the national clean energy ecosystem as part of efforts to accelerate the energy transition.
