PLN IP Services Strengthens Jayapura's Electricity Supply

Supported by 20 MW of Additional Capacity

 

Jayapura, July 8, 2026 - The reliability of Jayapura's electricity supply has increased with the operation of an additional 20 MW of generating capacity. The operation of this additional capacity is supported by the synergy between PT PLN Indonesia Power Services (PLN IP Services) and PT PLN (Persero) Papua and West Papua Regional Main Units (UIW). This capacity increase is part of an effort to strengthen the electricity system to meet the community's electricity needs, support public services, and stimulate economic growth in Jayapura.

PLN IP Services Successfully Relocates and Operates the 20 MW Tanjung Selor Gas-Powered Power Plant, Strengthening North Kalimantan's Electricity Reliability

Tanjung Selor, December 17, 2025 – PLN Indonesia Power together with PLN Indonesia Power Services present the Tanjung Selor Gas-Fired Power Plant (PLTG) with a capacity of 1 x 20 MegaWatt (MW) as a strategic step to strengthen the reliability of the electricity system in the North Kalimantan region. The presence of the Tanjung Selor PLTG is a real solution to meet the increasing need for electricity supply, while strengthening the electricity system in the capital of North Kalimantan Province which is located at the end of the system.
